In my mind, summer brings visions of heading to the pool, lake or ocean ...
"Don't wait for your ship to come in; swim out to it."
It's obvious that we love quotes of all kinds, and we always try to include one or two in our ISHR Insights. Did you know that we also feature rotating quotes on our website? We placed a small box on the left side of every page on our site and with every click, our readers are presented with a new quote. Everyone can gain value from a little daily inspiration. We love it. Hope you enjoy it too.
First quarter was a great one at ISHR Group, and second quarter is proving to be more of the same. We get the sense that our economy is bouncing back, and hope you are feeling that positive momentum as well. We are pleased to have developed relationships with several new clients in 2010 and look forward to building a true partnership to service their leadership assessment, development and coaching needs. Our HR project management group has placed several new consultants on assignment and the result is a win/win for all involved. We have received terrific feedback since launching our new site/new look in January ( www.ISHRGroup.com). We appreciate those of you who have taken the time to tour our new "home" and provide us with your comments. We hope that 2010 is off to phenomenal start for you. Remember our mission: Develop leaders. Deliver talent.
Let us know how we can help you. Warmly, Monique

ISHR Group Expertise
Our passion and core expertise lies in the area of leadership assessment and coaching. Over the years, these two areas have intersected tremendously and we no longer assess without coaching, nor coach without assessing ... and, of course, central to this, it's all about developing the leaders with whom we work! At the core, we still believe in creating a forum for helping each individual to recognize his or her strengths and development needs. We leverage the power of the 'live 360' process, provide customized feedback focused on the nuances of each individual, and spend significant time on intensely personalized coaching. The end result? Both our clients and the leaders whom we assess and coach walk away from the process with key-takeaways and an action plan that leads to success. We relish the opportunity to assess, develop and coach leaders from a wide array of clients in different industries, cultures, and countries. In 2010, we already have, or soon will, touch down (literally) and touch leaders across the US, throughout Europe, Japan, China and India. What a fascinating look at global leadership!

"When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier." - Roy Disney (brother of Walt)
This belief is the cornerstone of all the leadership development courses we design. How can you begin to 'learn' leadership, if you don't know who you are and what you stand for? How can a leader make decisions within his or her organization without having a perimeter of values in which he or she knows to operate? With that as the foundation, thus begin all of our leadership development programs.
Our customized "leadership experiences" (we don't like to say training!) drive tremendous feedback which lets us know that we are indeed making an impact. For example,
"I've had the opportunity to attend other courses. Without question, this was the best I've been to! The exposure to new information and the approaches used were the best I've experienced. We maintained a very aggressive pace, which was stressful at times, however it was extremely informative, and more importantly, useful and very practical." "This course was very-well organized and structured. It truly created an environment in which I understood my leadership and communication styles and tendencies, and I saw both the positive and negative effects of that style. I now have the tools to accentuate the positives and mitigate the negatives." "Very interactive course with lots of 'pressure-cooker' simulations. I was expecting a more traditional classroom model and was so pleased to find out this it was not that!" We would love to serve as your "Leadership U" as well. There is a lot of buzz about "coaching" right now from both our large clients (who have hundreds of thousands of employees) and our smaller clients (who have less than 1000 employees). We leverage coaching in its most traditional sense: a one-on-one relationship with a business executive designed to improve his or her personal effectiveness/productivity/style. To us, coaching is that ... and so much more. We value our experiences and our expertise in providing traditional executive coaching. Our clients value our experience and expertise in taking coaching to the next level and really working with leaders, and their teams and organizations, to help them to be more successful as an entity. We utilize a variety of tools including new leader assimilations, team strategy sessions, and organizational effectiveness programs to ensure that our coaching extends beyond one person, and impacts his or her success across a broader group. We use a number of tools as we define and scope our coaching engagements. We are graduates of the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the worldwide industry leader in coaches training, and members of the International Coaches Federation (ICF). We are able to leverage both the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) and the Birkman Profile in our coaching programs (for more information on either profile, give us a call or check out our website). Our coaching model works and has proven itself time and time again as we coach leaders directly, and as we coach leaders how to coach others. We practice, and teach, the skills needed to focus on Discovering, Defining, and Developing. As we coach our clients, we ASC: Ask questions, Seek solutions, and Commit to action.
Our HR OptIn business continues to provide practical, affordable, and actionable solutions for our clients seeking talented HR resources for contract assignments. Our model is simple. We provide educated, experienced and energized talent on a contract or project basis to help with those HR projects that you don't have the time or specialized expertise to handle. Our HR network links us across the US and we currently have consultants on assignment in places such as Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Georgia. While the goal of HR OptIn is to provide contract HR placements, several clients had a different idea for us. Given our tremendous HR network, we assist in filling permanent / full-time roles as well. Our approach is simple. We leverage our network and work strictly on a contingent basis. Feel free to reach out to speak with us about helping fill your open positions.
We are proud to remind our clients of our Opting In / Giving Back Program. Every time we place a consultant on assignment, we make a donation in that person's honor to the charity of his or her choice that supports women and/or children globally. It's great to see the list of organizations that we support continue to grow! Visit HROptIn and see the difference that the "best HR Talent and the most HR Options" can make for you.

CNN.com Job hunts come with their own warning signs, but they're not typically as blunt as the bright yellow and orange signs posted on the side of the road. Instead, you're more likely to get context clues, like the brake lights. The interview process is full of uncertainty for a job seeker, and much of the power is in the interviewer's hands. Sometimes you don't know if the interview is going well. Other times you're so nervous you don't recognize the signs that this company isn't right for you. See what ISHR Group had to say in this article posted on CNN.com about certain "context" clues that your interview isn't going well.

Bringing back former employees can be a cost-efficient and effective way to fortify your workforce, but it does not come without risk. Such workers know the people, culture and the job, but HR leaders should make sure hiring managers don't just settle for a known entity -- when a better fit might be available. See what ISHR Group had to say about rehiring former employees. in articles in both HR Executive and the Atlanta Journal & Constitution.

Giving Back: 21st Century Leaders ISHR Group is proud to volunteer our time and services with 21st Century Leaders (21CL). The mission of 21CL is to increase the number, skills and diversity of Georgia's future leaders. G5, a week-long leadership program held on the campus at Emory University, is fast approaching, and on Monday, June 7, we will find ourselves kicking off the program by taking 75 students from across the state of Georgia through the results of their HBDI Profiles to help them better understand their unique leadership style and operating preferences. Our thanks to Herrmann International for donating the HBDI materials for the students. Operated under the charter of Georgia Business Forum, Inc., 21st Century Leaders is a non-profit organization that collaborates with business and education leaders to develop, inspire and nurture students with leadership potential to make a positive impact on their schools, communities and future places of work.
